چکیده

To assess the effects of moderate potassium cardioplegia (37 mEq/l KCI) on the severity of myocardial ischemia during arrest and on post arrest ventricular function, 32 isolated, isovolumic feline hearts were studied before, during and I hour after ischemic arrest. Normothermia (37°C) was maintained in 16 hearts, eight without KCI and eight with KCI. Hypothermia (27°C) was maintained in the remaining 16 hearts, eight with KCI and eight without KCI. Myocardial

Am J Physiol Heart Circ Physiol 279: H882–H888, 2000.—The effects of the potassium (K) channel opener pinacidil (Pin) on the coronary smooth muscle Ca-myosin light chain (MLC) phosphorylation pathway under hypothermic K cardioplegia were dete...

Cardioplegia with adenosine and adenosine triphosphate in the isolated guinea pig heart.

In order to determine the effect of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and adenosine in cardioplegic solutions, a comparative study has been undertaken in isolated guinea pig hearts using the Langendorff perfusion technique as a model of cardiopulmonary bypass. The hearts (n = 10 in each group) previously being perfused by Krebs-Henseleit solution, were arrested by one of the following cardioplegic s...

Myocardial interstitial glucose and lactate before, during, and after cardioplegic heart arrest.

The interstitial fluid of the human myocardium was monitored in 13 patients undergoing aortic valve and/or bypass surgery before, during, and after hypothermic potassium cardioplegia. The regulation of glucose and lactate was studied after sampling with microdialysis. The following questions were addressed. 1). Is the rate of transcapillary diffusion the limiting step for myocardial uptake of g...

Effects of pinacidil on coronary Ca(2+)-myosin phosphorylation in cold potassium cardioplegia model.

The effects of the potassium (K(+)) channel opener pinacidil (Pin) on the coronary smooth muscle Ca(2+)-myosin light chain (MLC) phosphorylation pathway under hypothermic K(+) cardioplegia were determined by use of an in vitro microvessel model. Rat coronary arterioles (100-260 microm in diameter) were subjected to 60 min of simulated hypothermic (20 degrees C) K(+) cardioplegic solutions (K(+)...

Consistent Two to Four Degree Crystalloid Potassium Cardioplegia

_____________ _ The use of hypothermic crystalloid potassium cardioplegia in open heart surgery has been shown to be effective in arresting the heart and protecting it from ischemic injury during aortic crossclamping. A perfusion technique for the routine delivery of 2-4° centigrade (C) crystalloid potassium cardioplegia has been employed in 116 consecutive coronary artery bypass graft procedur...
